I had to sit with this one for a bit. Confidence. Letting go of confidence is such a hard sell for me because I had to build up self-confidence intentionally.

I feel like the connection between confidence and trust is also so tight. I trust myself about myself - not about others. I don't know what's right for others. I know what's right for me. I trust that. I'm pretty confident in that.

What do you think about trusting yourself vs being confident?

Wow, thanks so much for writing this! I appreciate your journey of building confidence in yourself and not being willing to let go of that for one second!

Maybe trust of self is more process based, connecting in to our deepest wisdom one step at a time. In the case I'm writing about, I was too confident in my specific abilities to hold his feelings no matter what. That meant I didn't realize I needed to be prepared for difficult feelings that would come up. So it backfired.

Maybe there's a word that's more precise than confidence for this. What do you think?

Yeah, I think in your post it's about the tipping point of confidence into self-assuredness which ends up in over-extended. I'm seeing a graphic emerge of this. I'll post it and tag you

I love your playful, musical way of broaching the topic. I was nodding and chuckling as I listened. Also, you have a beautiful voice! Yes, humility is a healthy and needed counterpart to confidence!

I love the playful, creative way in which you're illustrating such an important, but heavy message about the way in which we can easily spiritually bypass our own emotions, to the detriment of ourselves and our relationships. And in a culture that centers confidence over vulnerability, we're especially susceptible to this sort of self-gaslighting. Thank you for sharing the wisdom of your experience *and* your beautiful singing voice!
